Rain Falls Down

(Erin Jordan)
I remember fall that year when it gets this hot around here. The halls smell like old paper and mold. I still believed what I'd been told to protect me from people like you.....
A tree fell down in the forest but no one was around to hear. No one took a picture or wrote about it until that year. How do branches get so strong - how do trunks turn rugged and wrong?
I can tell by your rings -you've been thirsty for too long.
But people change so fast - and grow up like the grass -
and burn out underneath the sun - and flourish when the rain falls down on you.....
When the rain falls down....
We've got mass produced apartments here and you can walk the the Super K.
This is not the land of milk and honey but it's on the way......
But how you changed so fast and grew up like the grass -
and burned out underneath the sun - and flourished when the rain fell down.....
I did not believe in love at the time. You believed in love - but not in me. Yeah, she really doesn't know what she believes - you just want a blank slate you can write on as you please.....
But people change so fast and grow up like the grass - and burn out underneath the sun - and flourish when the rain falls down on you.......
