Amphibian (lyrics)

(Erin Jordan and The Whiskey Romance)

Fish are swimming past the window. Smoke is heavy in the air. Cupid's jagged arrow keeps missing the dart board, but he's far too tipsy to care. And all the lonley men are sitting at the bar - the lonley girls just stayed home. There are people in this world who never outgrow gills and we swim around eachother like tadpoles.

Bloody mary, screw driver, mimosa....it's a bit too early for me. You like a good stiff drink early in the morning. I just order coffee with cream. It's getting too cold to be dining outside, but neither of us makes a fuss. I love it how you squrim when you see me smile at the baby at the table next to us.

We're going on a joyride in our leaky boat with rocks tied to our ankles and ribbons on our toes and I will never ever row you over to my shores because I know you're an amphibian.

A chemical experiement not contained in the lab. We are drinking beer and talking politics. The rain keeps falling down in Ukrainian town and you know I never wear galashes. Soon it will freeze, but it's warm under the seas and no one is making any waves. When you're stumbling through the talk and slurring through the walk there's always and excuse the next day.

We're going on a joyride in our leaky boat with rocks tied to our ankles and ribbons on our toes and I will never ever row you over to my shores because I know you're an amphibian.
